UUMC is proud of its rich tradition of outstanding music. The 50-member choir was established more than 80 years ago and continues to uplift with sacred music from around the world, sung in a variety of languages. First-time visitors to the church are often impressed with the skill of the choir and of the singing ability of the congregation who surround them in the pews. On Sunday mornings, the sanctuary is filled with a “joyful noise” coming from all directions.
Marc Erck is UUMC’s Director of Music & Worship and also the director of our acclaimed choir. He often contributes to the Music & Worship blog on our website.

Children of all ages are invited to participate in the music ministry at UUMC. We strive to give children meaningful, fun experiences, teach new musical skills and encourage children to share their musical gifts.
The Youth Choir is for sixth to twelfth graders. Rehearsals follow the 11:00 a.m service on specific dates. On special occasions, this choir shares their music with the congregation.
The Wesley Choir consists of students in the first to fifth grade.
No previous choral or music training is required, just a desire to sing. Children accompany their parents to the 11:00 a.m service and then leave the sanctuary after the scripture readings to rehearse until noon. This choir also shares their musical gifts with the congregation at various times throughout the year.

9:45 a.m-10:00 a.m
At the beginning of the Sunday School hour, second to fifth graders participate as a group in music activities led by UUMC member Gail Totten. After music time, Sunday School leaders take children back to their rooms.
10:30 a.m-10:45 a.m
Children from three years of age to first grade participate in the Cherub Choir during the last part of Sunday School hour. Activities include singing, movement, listening and the introduction of early music skills. These children share their music in church on designated Sundays throughout the year. Debra Erck is the Cherub Choir leader.
