Service of Worship Sunday @ 11 amScripture: Luke 24:1-12
Christ is Risen! Alleluia! Join us for worship as we celebrate Easter. The Gospel Lesson is Luke 24:1-12. We have two worship services, one at 9am and one at 11am. The two services are identical and include special music including a brass ensemble. Concluding our “Everything [in] Between” sermon series, Pastor Teresa is preaching and the theme is living in between grief and hope. At the 11am service we celebrate the baptisms of Joxter Boldt and Sam Holt and welcome them as new members. We also welcome Cooper Lutz and Caroline Ramsey. All four of these wonderful young people are students at UT and are active in our campus ministry. Be sure to stay after the 11am service for the Easter Festival with food and fun for all ages. |
|
“If God’s world of justice and mercy and beauty has already been inaugurated, then those who believe in Jesus’ resurrection must be people who do justice and mercy in the present, people who, together with other brothers and sisters in the body of Christ, work for God’s healing love in creation; people who do beauty; people who celebrate art, because art and music are ways in which we can pierce through the imagination, which gets stuck in the old creation, and can help people to imagine that there might actually be a new creation in which the bullies and the wicked empires of the world are not in charge, and in which Jesus is in charge.” – Professor N.T. Wright |

We asked… and you delivered!Last Sunday, a group of [70+] volunteers of all ages, including Open Door guests, participated in a work day at UUMC to address some lingering projects and help prepare our church campus for Easter. On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I would like to express our gratitude for all who were able to participate on Sunday and to expressly recognize Chad Jones for his leadership and efforts in planning the work along Guadalupe. Also, a heartfelt thank you to Doug and Annette Bohne for their generous gift of a BBQ lunch from Pok-e-jos for our volunteers. – Geoffrey Kay, Board of Trustees Chair |
|
To add to what Geoffrey Kay, our Board of Trustees Chair, so accurately and graciously wrote above, I just wanted to let everyone know how much the STAFF appreciates ALL of the hard work that was done around our campus last Sunday. Chad led a group of over 30 volunteers, including several college students, to prune, rake and spread decompressed granite along our property on Guadalupe Street. Cindy led a group of over 20 volunteers to spruce up the Sanctuary. We cleaned windows in both narthex, cleaned underneath all of the pew cushions, straightened the hymnals, filled the registration pads and swept and bagged leaves on the walkway from the balcony to Fellowship Hall. Earl led a small group to declutter and organize our Cry Room off of the Sanctuary. Jillian had over 7 parent families help organize all of our Godly Play stories in our children’s Sunday School rooms. Natasha led a group of 7 of our tweens and youth to clean our God’s Doors Are Open to All, swept and bagged leaves, did some cleanup in the alleyway and also did some cleaning of building surfaces in the courtyard. Thank you for sharing your time and talents with us. We could not do these things without all of your hearts and hands! – Cindy Reeves, Director of Finance and Operations |
