Dr. White served on the faculty of Austin Seminary from 2005 until his retirement in July 2023. We’ll also hear Pastor Teresa and Eun Joo play Vocalise, Opus 34, No. 14 by Rachmaninoff during the offertory. Following worship this Sunday, our UUMC Youth will host a lunch in the fellowship hall and will make a presentation sharing about their experience and learning on the recent youth mission trip. All are welcome! |

| Dr. David F. White served on the faculty of Austin Seminary from 2005 until his retirement in July 2023.
Before Austin Seminary, he was a visiting assistant professor of youth and education and associate director of research for the Youth Theological Initiative at Candler School of Theology, Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. He also spent time as |

executive director of the Youth Discipleship Project at Claremont School of Theology, a research project exploring alternative approaches to work with youth and with congregational discernment. Dr. White has also served as an adjunct professor at Bethany Theological Seminary, the Claremont School of Theology, and Columbia Theological Seminary.
Ordained in the United Methodist Church, White served in California, Alaska, and Mississippi as a minister of youth, co-pastor, conference coordinator of youth ministries, and associate pastor.
His most recent book is Tending the Fire that Burns at the Center of the World: Beauty and the Art of Christian Formation. He has garnered several grants, including a $1.2 million grant from Lily Endowment Inc. to create a project on youth discipleship; a faculty development grant on teaching diversity from the Wabash Center; and a Templeton Foundation grant exploring spoken word poetry and joy among youth. |

UUMC Votes - Become a VDR! UUMC Votes wants to remind you that October 7 is the last day to register to vote in the November 5 General Election.
They also want to let you know that in September, we’ll help students register to vote on our 24th and Guadalupe corner. If you’re interested in participating, ensure you’ve got a valid certificate as a Volunteer Deputy Registrar (VDR). If you need to get certified (or re-certified) it’s easy and all online!
