 | Austin MarathonFebruary 16 This Sunday is the Austin Marathon, which means street closures and extra traffic! The race goes right down Guadalupe, which directly impacts getting to church Sunday morning. We have routes to church and a race map on our website to help you get here. Give yourself plenty of time to get to church, maybe even more than you think you will need. If you get here “too early,” take a few minutes and cheer on the runners as they cross in front of the church! |

 | Advocating for our Immigrant NeighborsFebruary 16 | 4 pm or February 20 | 11 amSo many of us want to know how to respond to the administration's recent actions that have struck fear in many of our neighbors who may be subject to raids and deportations. UUMC will be offering two Zoom sessions next week to learn more about how we can help our neighbors and discuss what we can do as a church community. Church Council Chair, Sandy White, and Pastor Earl will share some guidance and resources from the United Methodist Church's national and conference leadership, as well as information from other organizations working in this area. These conversations will serve as a starting point as we seek to serve Christ faithfully in these difficult times. |

Service of Worship Sunday @ 11 amScripture: Colossians 3:12-17Join us for worship this Family Sunday as we continue our sermon series “Called to Compassion.” The scripture lesson comes from Colossians 3:12-17 and AV will lead us in a responsive song based on The Beatitudes in Luke 6:17-26 composed by Suzanne Toolan. We will also join together in welcoming our Wesley Nurse Erika Castillo with a blessing during worship and a reception in the courtyard following worship.
A Wesley Nurse is a faith-based community nurse that uses a holistic approach - mind, body and spirit - to help the community in many ways. This parish nurse position is funded by Methodist Healthcare Ministries. Erika Castillo accepted the position in Fall 2024 and recently completed her orientation and training. For more information about the Wesley Nurse position here at UUMC, stay posted in the weeks ahead and discover more on their website. |

Human compassion is equal to human cruelty, and it is up to each of us to tip the balance. – Alice Walker
Compassion is fueled by understanding and accepting that we’re all made of strength and struggle - no one is immune to pain or suffering. Compassion is not a practice of “better than” or “I can fix you” - it’s a practice based in the beauty and pain of shared humanity. – Brené Brown |

2025 Crop WalkThe Gardeners Sunday School Class is representing UUMC at the 2025 Austin CROP walk on March 2nd. The goal is to raise funds and awareness to combat hunger caused by factors like natural disasters and inadequate access to water. Money raised goes to local and global organizations. We walk to end hunger. We walk in solidarity with those around the world who must walk miles to get clean water. Walk with us. Give generously. |

Fig Leaf Need: Paper Bags with Handles! Our Fig Leaf Ministry uses grocery bags–with handles–when we give clothes to our guests on Saturday morning. However, their supply is running low. If you have any lying around the house, we can put them to good use! Please bring them with you next time you’re at church and leave them in the donation barrels. Thanks! |
