Out of the Husk of Despair a Sprout of Hope

We continue our Lenten sermon series “Hope is Here.” Pastor Earl preaches about the relationship between hope and faith. The scripture comes from the Book of Jeremiah and the Gospel of John.

“With this faith, we will be able to hew out of the mountain of despair a stone of hope.”

Martin Luther King Jr.,
“I Have a Dream”

“Without faith’s knowledge of Christ, hope becomes a utopia and remains hanging in the air. But without hope, faith falls to pieces, becomes a fainthearted, and ultimately a dead faith.”

Jürgen Moltmann,
“Theology of Hope”
