Given any number of factors, including the decline of religious affiliation and the volatile political climate, it can be hard to be hopeful about the future. But as I consider God’s continued work among us here at University UMC, I grow more and more hopeful about UUMC’s future. The Spirit is with us in energizing ways as our ministries grow. The heart and message of our congregation are increasingly necessary in times like these. I’m grateful for the many ways you support and defend the church through your prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness.
And I’m grateful for your advocacy work. Below, you’ll find a link to the Texas Freedom Network Press Conference earlier this week where I spoke on behalf of Texas public schools. My sister is a special education teacher. Like teachers across this great state, she gives her all every single day with scarce resources because our legislators have yet to fully fund special education. She’s among those who inspire me to speak on behalf of public education and all children. You’ll also find below the link to John Lithgow reading “Lessons on Tyranny.”
What a joy to be your pastor!
