Memories of the Past

Putting the ornaments on the Christmas tree is not only something we do every year, but it is something that brings back the memories of the past while also giving you ideas for the future. It comforts me to be able to think about the past and knowing that we do not need to leave it behind.
On every trip we take as a family, we buy an ornament to go on our tree. These are reminders of how privileged we are to be able to travel to all these amazing places. My Christmas tree is not only the place where all of our presents are stashed on Christmas morning, but a place where you can sit next to it and remember all the good times you have had with your family.
The same thing happens with the Church when we think about how God made us all. Does that not bring back memories of some conversation you had with family or friends? How can we look to the future without forgetting the past? All these questions pile up and block our ability to see clearly. I like to believe that if I think about my past, my future will become more clear. This itself provides me a sense of security and comfort.
From the past will come the future; what it holds, a mystery. Unrevealed until its season, something God alone can see.
