| Worship | Sunday @ 11 am Online or In-PersonJoin us for worship as we continue our Lenten journey and sermon series on hope. This Sunday the sermon text is John 2:13-22 and Pastor Teresa’s sermon will center on hope for the future of the church.
It is also a communion Sunday at our 11am sanctuary service and the sanctuary choir will sing “Christ is Made the Sure Foundation.” Our online service premiers at 11am on our YouTube channel.
The altar rail offering and Lenten Offering this week will go to the UT Outpost at the University of Texas. Funds will be used to stock the on campus food pantry in the Office of the Dean of Students, supplying food-insecure students with free food. | “The gospel doesn’t need a coalition devoted to keeping the wrong people out. It needs a family of sinners, saved by grace, committed to tearing down the walls, throwing open the doors, and shouting, “Welcome! There’s bread and wine. Come eat with us and talk.” This isn’t a kingdom for the worthy; it’s a kingdom for the hungry.” ― Rachel Held Evans, Searching for Sunday: Loving, Leaving, and Finding the Church |

Amplify AustinAmplify Austin Day is March 6 - 7, (NEXT WEEK!) but Early Giving for Open Door and Fig Leaf is open now at Amplify Austin! UUMC relies on funds raised through Amplify Austin to supplement the church budget for these ministries, which provide nutritious meals and crucial clothing and supplies to our unhoused neighbors every Saturday morning. And the need is growing: the average number of guests each week increased by 75% in 2023 compared to 2022. To help meet this need, our goal is to raise $10,000, which generous friends have offered to match. Please consider donating between now and Amplify Austin Day. Thank you! Another organization you can consider supporting is Micah 6 of which UUMC is a founding member. Micah 6 has worked for more than 20 years to address food insecurity in Austin. |

HESED Lecture Series: “History/Whose Story? Reclaiming Our Stories”Hebrew for Love in Action, HESED lectures are an annual program at Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary intended to explore the intersection of justice and Faith. This year, on March 1-2, the lectures will focus on history. Specifically, whose stories have historically been told–and whose stories have not. They will celebrate the wholeness of human history by reclaiming obscured stories, perspectives, and cultures that have been underrepresented in mainstream discourse. Learn more and Register (it’s free!) to attend on their website. |
Poor People’s Campaign Rally As part of a nationwide day of assembly, there will be a rally at the Texas Capitol on March 2 at 11 am to raise awareness of the plight that is income inequality in America. This assembly will bring Texas residents together in solidarity on voter rights, healthcare, immigration, livable wages and education. You can learn more about the Poor People’s Campaign, and their goals on their website. |
