| Lunch & LearnSunday 2/25 | 12:00 - 2 pmAs we continue to explore our hopes for a just world, we’ll be joined by Shan Schaffer from Texas Freedom Network.
Over the last year, members of the UUMC Church Council and staff have engaged in conversations about the possibility of affiliating with Texas Freedom Network's "Reproductive Freedom Congregation” program. We are in the beginning stages of exploring such an affiliation and this is a time of learning and discernment. Come to learn more.
Help us to ensure this is a safe space for all with regard to delicate subject matters, come with curious questions as well as a spirit of respect for others and the range of tender experiences this subject matter encompasses. | |

| Worship | Sunday @ 11 am Online or In-Person
Join us for worship as we continue our Lenten Journey. The sermons this season follow the lectionary Gospel readings and are inspired in part by the book “Hope is Here” by Luther Smith. In these next three Sundays, Pastor Teresa explores the theme of hope in our own personal lives, in the church, and in the world.
This Sunday, the Sanctuary Choir will sing Mark Miller’s arrangement of “I Believe” at the Sanctuary service. The words “I believe in the sun even when it is not shining; I believe in love even when feeling it not; I believe in God even when God is silent.” is a poetic translation of text inscribed on the wall of an underground shelter in Cologne used by Catholics to hide Jewish people during World War II. | “We are created with a heart for hope. Each of us has a deep longing to embrace fully the adventure of living.” – Luther Smith
“Sometimes hope is a radical act, sometimes a quietly merciful response, sometimes a second wind, or just an increased awareness of goodness and beauty.” – Anne Lamott |

To DonateYou can donate by cash, check or online to help us support the UT Outpost. Please write “Lenten Offering” on your offering envelope or the memo section of your check. If you are giving online, visit uumc.org/give and select “Give to Special Offerings.” Thank you for your generosity. |
Amplify AustinAmplify Austin Day is March 6 - 7, but Early Giving for Open Door and Fig Leaf is open now at Amplify Austin! UUMC relies on funds raised through Amplify Austin to supplement the church budget for these ministries, which provide nutritious meals and crucial clothing and supplies to our unhoused neighbors every Saturday morning. And the need is growing: the average number of guests each week increased by 75% in 2023 compared to 2022. To help meet this need, our goal is to raise $10,000, which generous friends have offered to match. Please consider donating between now and Amplify Austin Day. Thank you! Another organization you can consider supporting is Micah 6 of which UUMC is a founding member. Micah 6 has worked for more than 20 years to address food insecurity in Austin. |

HESED Lecture Series: “History/Whose Story? Reclaiming Our Stories”Hebrew for Love in Action, HESED lectures are an annual program at Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary intended to explore the intersection of justice and Faith. This year, on March 1-2, the lectures will focus on history. Specifically, whose stories have historically been told–and whose stories have not. They will celebrate the wholeness of human history by reclaiming obscured stories, perspectives, and cultures that have been underrepresented in mainstream discourse. Learn more and Register (it’s free!) to attend on their website. |
Poor People’s Campaign Rally As part of a nationwide day of assembly, there will be a rally at the Texas Capitol on March 2 at 11 am to raise awareness of the plight that is income inequality in America. This assembly will bring Texas residents together in solidarity on voter rights, healthcare, immigration, livable wages and education. You can learn more about the Poor People’s Campaign, and their goals on their website. |
