| All Saints’ Sunday THIS SUNDAY | 11 amJoin the Sanctuary Choir for a special All Saint's Service which will include "Lux Aeterna" by Morten Lauridsen, a requiem in five movements. Composed in 1997, "Lux Aeterna" is a relatively contemporary requiem. Lauridsen was moved to compose the piece by the death of his mother, for whom he had great love. The piece is often compared to Brahm's "Ein Deutsches Requiem." Both composers took liberty in the selection of their text, rather than pulling from the traditional latin mass, they focused on readings that would comfort and console the living. "Lux Aeterna" features readings that reference various forms of sacred light. May this work and our singers be a light to you on a heavy day, as we remember and lift up all those in our congregation who have passed throughout the year. |

Worship | Sunday @ 11:00 am Online or In-Person
Join us for worship. We will celebrate All Saints’ Sunday as we remember the members of UUMC who have died in this past year.
At the in-person service, the choir will lead our remembering as they perform the requiem, “Lux Aeterna” by Morten Lauridsen. Candles will be lit for each member of our congregation who died. As we read the names, we will invite family members to light the candle for their loved one and friends to stand. There will also be an opportunity to remember all those we’ve lost through prayer stations, candle lighting, and writing their names on leaves that will be added to a tree. We will also celebrate Holy Communion.
In the online service, we will share pictures as we continue our remembrance of the Saints of UUMC.
“My culture does not honor the ancestors as a quaint spirituality of the past, but as a living source of strength for the present.” – Steven Charleston |

StewardshipStewardship Season was a grand success! It was very moving to have so many people show up and show support for our church family. So far, we’ve received over 100 pledge cards. There is still a bit to go to hit our goal, but we’re off to a great start. A big thank you to all of you. |
Premie MinistryDuring Advent, we’ll bless baby blankets and share them with local hospitals. We invite all knitters, crocheters or seamsters in our congregation to participate! Blankets, burial gowns, booties, and hats are welcome (the softer the material, the better). While projects of all sizes are welcome, there is a need for preemie-sized pieces.
Finished works can be dropped off at any time. To be included in this year’s blessing, bring them by December 17! If you have any questions about the blankets, you can contact Jillian, and for questions about drop-offs contact Renee! |
Open Door - Books & Magazines Needed!UUMC’s new Saturday morning library has been so popular that we are out of material. Do you have books or magazines to share with the unhoused neighbors who visit Open Door and Fig Leaf? Consider donating them! Our guests enjoy popular fiction, nonfiction, general-interest magazines, and religious publications, in English and Spanish. We also see demand for children’s books. Please refrain from offering textbooks, academic or professional journals, or anything you wouldn't consider reading yourself. Boxes of books and magazines may be left in the first-floor elevator lobby, near the bins for clothing donations. Thank you! |

Charge ConferenceCharge Conference is an annual meeting with the District Superintendent for the purpose of approving important administrative reports. Our DS Rev. Dr. Marcus Freeman has set the group Charge Conference with other area UMCs for Sunday, November 12 at 4 pm at Northwest Hills UMC in Austin. This newer model adopted in recent years means that we will arrive with all our required administrative reports ready to submit and approved at the previous Church Council meeting to be held on November 9. As well, there will be a Charge Conference during the November 9 Church Council meeting for the sole agenda item of acting on Elizabeth Hoffman's candidacy. All are welcome to attend and church council members have voice and vote. |
