 | Church WorkdayPlease Note: Corrected DateApril 6 | 12 pm Wear your work clothes to church, because right after we’ll meet in the Fellowship Hall following worship for a light lunch and to hear more about the various work areas. We’re still finalizing the full list of tasks, but we know we’ll be working on some landscaping on Guadalupe and straightening up the sanctuary. There will be indoor and outdoor projects for persons of all ages and capabilities to participate. Our last workday was a great success and we appreciate all who are able to join us. |

Service of Worship Sunday @ 11 amScripture: Matthew 4:1-11
This is the 2nd Sunday in Lent and the scripture lesson comes to us from Luke 10:25-37, the familiar story of the Good Samaritan. Our sermon series for the Season of Lent is “Everything [in] Between.” This series is an invitation to navigate the polarities in our lives with more faith, intention, and openness to be transformed. Each week we explore two supposed binaries such as “faith and works” or “growth and rest.” We often consider these ideas to be opposing. However, as we explore these concepts within the scriptures, we find nuance and complexity. We find that these dichotomies are false and we might find that God is present in between. In this week’s sermon, Pastor Teresa explores the false dichotomy of “stranger and neighbor.” It is a Family Sunday and we will enjoy the voices of more young people leading us in the worship service. |

In speaking about The Good Samaritan, Martin Luther King, Jr. said, “I want to pave the Jericho Road, add street lights to the Jericho Road, make the Jericho Road safe for passage by everybody.” |

Fig Leaf Needs: Men’s ClothingThanks to many generous donations, we have an abundance of many items. We’re currently in need of casual men’s clothes, particularly jeans, sweatpants and khakis. If you have other items–like women’s and children’s clothing–consider holding onto them for later donation, or finding another group that is in greater need of them. |

 | Movie Screening: Zurawski v TexasMarch 23 | 12:30 - 3 pm FUMC Austin’s Mercy and Justice team invites you to a screening of Zurawski v Texas. This powerful documentary reveals the dire impact of losing access to healthcare. While battling in court against the state, a group of women band together as they wrestle to regain their reproductive futures and set a precedent for millions of other women and families. The extent of their traumatic experiences is revealed and may challenge assumptions, and be challenging to watch.
Following the documentary, we will spend a short time in reflection and offer opportunities to take a next step in advocacy. For $15, an optional lunch will be available at 12:15PM to those who register by March 18. Please contact Pastor Cathy Stone at cathy@fumcaustin.org with questions and click here to register. |
