Parents Night Out: September

September 7 | 5 - 8:30 pm

Registration closes TONIGHT!

Treat your kids fifth grade and under to a fun night out with friends at UUMC! We'll always have crafts, recreation, STEM, pizza, movie and dessert. This month our theme is Olympics! PNO is the perfect time to do something fun by yourselves or join other parents for community time together. We can't wait to see you there!

Queer Fellowship Dinner

Habitat for Humanity Build

University UMC and other churches in the university area are collaborating on a Habitat for Humanity house-building project. We are excited about this opportunity to be in mission and ministry together! Join us for worship this Sunday! Pastor Earl’s sermon will be about planning and improvising as we continue the sermon series focusing on Psalm 90 “Teach us O Beloved to number our days that we might have a heart of wisdom.”

Are you more like a planner who schedules everything in detail and feels comfortable seeing everything go as planned? Or are you more like an improviser who goes with the flow and feels excited to make decisions on the spot? We all have plans for the upcoming days and weeks. But sometimes, our time doesn’t go as we planned, and many times, we have to improvise depending on the situation. What about God’s plan for us? Has everything in the world been going as God planned? Or has God also improvised sometimes? Let’s reflect on these questions together this Sunday.

Wesley Nurse Update

We are excited to share University UMC is receiving a Wesley Nurse! This parish nurse position is funded by Methodist Healthcare Ministries. Erika Castillo has accepted the position and will begin orientation and training before beginning her official duties here at UUMC. Stay posted for more information in the weeks ahead.

UUMC Poetry Group:

Next Meeting: Sept. 17 @ 7 pm

Do you enjoy reading, listening to, or writing poetry? Check out UUMC's poetry group! They meet on the third Tuesday of every month at 7 PM. We'll rotate meeting locations around the area (usually homes). Gatherings usually entail everyone bringing a couple of poems that they want to share aloud. The poems can be your own, old faithfuls from your favorite poets, or newly-discovered pieces. Reach out to Lauren Hanks for more info: laurennicolehanks@gmail.com.

In September, UUMC Votes is registering students to vote on our 24th and Guadalupe corner. If you’re interested in participating, ensure you’ve got a valid certificate as a Volunteer Deputy Registrar (VDR). If you need to get certified (or re-certified) sign up to attend a training here!

Get-Out-The-Vote Walk
